About 5th Avenue Bowtique

"...Either you know how to make a bow, or you dont..." -Coco Chanel

"there is nothing cuter than a little girl wearing a big bow and a smile on her face"
When my daughter was born at the end of 2005, I saw little girls wearing hairbows and dresses everywhere, and I became even more excited about the life ahead doing fun mom/daughter things, including dressing her up in fun clothes.

I owe a great deal of my success to my husband who, after seeing the price tags of my purchases, demanded that I learn to make hair bows myself, or resolve that my daughter would not be a "bowhead" baby. This began my journey down the road of design. With determination, I taught myself how to make custom bows through trial and error (with the help of my aunt, a couture hat designer in New York)- being too afraid to take the gorgeous bow I purchased apart, I continued using my own method for months, growing a local customer base.

Because I treasured the excitement of the exact moment I figured out this bow making process, I taught hair bow classes to women in the Houston area for over 2 years- what a value and rewarding skill to create something for a child and have them look to you in awe. To give a child a beautiful handmade gift is a wonderful feeling, but there was more, indeed!! So many of these women that were students found a fabulous hobby- some created their own businesses, others found a creative outlet that never knew existed...even more became admired by the children in their lives for their talents!!

HOW DID BOWBUILDERS™ COME ABOUT?

It really only took a couple of months before I became brave enough to finally take apart my beautiful "purchased" hair bow. I assumed that there would only be ONE way to make bows, and I somehow stumbled on it the same way others had; What a shock it was- having never purchased hair bow instructions, my thought process was entirely different from anything previously done. The bow in front of me was 5 or 6 layers, with each layer being seperately made, and "stacked", one on top of another before being glued together. As a mother, both quality and value are characteristics that are important to me, and I realized there was a better way to make and buy bows!! "...Stay tuned for our patent pending interchangeable hair bow system coming SOON!!!
